Shamanic Entheogens - Native American Remedies - Evolutionary Tools

pedicularis grandiflora

Elephant Head ( Pedicularis Grandiflora ) is almost identical to Indian Warrior ( densiflora Pedicularis ). Both are closely related as indicated by their scientific names. P. densiflora was prized by Native Americans, as well as the P. Grandiflora strain. They utilized these plants for their Immune boosting properties, as well as the ability to relieve anger, anxiety, muscle tension, and as a sedative narcotic, tranquilizer, and to help induce sleep.

Endless numbers of wild plants have been researched by phytochemist around the world. This means that we DO know that these herbs produce extremely complex phytochemicals which demonstrate psychoactive and medicinal properties. This would also indicate that regardless of whether a specific plant has been studied in laboratories or not, we are sure that they all create phytochemicals, as this is a consistently repeated process in nature. Some plants even produce alkaloids that exist in the human brain ( Cowage contains Serotonin. )

Several varieties of the Peducularis botanical have been studied by phytochemist. P. sibthorpii and P. wilhelmsiana are two specific strains that I will discuss in this section. It was discovered by academic researchers that they produce some important poly-phenols and flavonoids (antioxidant). Polyphenols work to prevent microbial infections in plants. They also seem to appear in lots of other immune boosting herbals as well. Generally, researchers discover vast quantities of these phytochemicals. In a nutshell, the historic reputation these plants have as powerful healing agents is in fact scientifically sound.

It grows in bogs and damp meadows from E. Transbaikalia to the Pacific coast. If you happen to stumble across what you think is Indian Warrior in your area, or any other wild medicinal or psychoactive plant, please contact me. I am interested in identifying and obtaining seeds and samples for research. Scotthermann850@gmail.com
