A few points to start with 1) This cactus can be found easily around the USA, and it is NOT illegal. 2) I do not sell this species and this is not a shop. 3) While it is legal it can still be used illegally and I am not encouraging that. This is information and information is not a crime, nor is it immoral. I am educating people on the cultural use of such cactus and plants, and wnat the bible warns about certain teachings and philosophies often associated to such botanicals and cacti, aka Biblical Ethnobotany. Evil will always target the just, and try to use their words and actions against them in an illegitimate way.Seek God for deliverance along the way and stay on your path of righteous activism.
The Boke's Button strain is a very unique species that grows on raised limestone hills, and ledges throughout the Chihuahuan Desert of South Texas and Northern Mexico. Boke's Button is from the plant family Cactaceae, and is native to a subtropical desert-like climates. The Epithelantha Bokei strain likes humus-loma-sandy soil that should be re-potted every 6 years. This species requires full/part sun. Water frequently during summer time, and moderate on the water in the spring and autumn, especially during the winter.
While certain species are used for nothing more than their ornamental value, others have been prized in a religious and spiritual context. Unfortunately, the law has limited the use of such practices, only allowing those who have the religious right to do so. A good example of this is the mighty San Pedro. It's used by the Native American Church and other religious groups for spiritual enlightenment, and healing. There is something pleasing about their prescence tho. While God made all things, it is important to be aware of deceptive doctrine which teaches idolatry and false god worship. The ten commandments prove theirselves. Perhaps it's their tough protective nature, or the very calming and nourishing shade of green emitted by their reflection of the suns beautiful rays of life giving energy.
All of the cacti on this website, including Living Rocks, share one thing in common. They have been used by different cultures around the world for centuries in a entheogenic context. In the USA, they are prized as valuable collectors items by many cactus enthusaist and collectors. We hope to help preserve the legacy of these historic gems by spreading their seeds all around the world. They are very easy to grow and require very little maintinance. This one actually has a few names, and is often also referred to as "living rocks", or the scientific name 'epithelantha bokei". It can literally start growing roots from nothing more than a cutting lying around the house.
Another use for Cactus that you don't hear about too often that I thought of one day, is to protect other plants from wild predators! Let's say you have a garden plot that's ten foot by ten foot. If you plant cacti all around that plot ( in the ground ) then you can rest assured that no wild animals will danger your plants. I mentioned this on a blog I wrote on prickly pears too I believe. It's a simple solution that seems to work. I do believe from memory, that there are actually other botanicals out there that chase off animals as well, supposedly by just their scent or something.
A Native American friend once told me that Bokei ( Bokes Button ) was considered a masculine and protective "plant spirit". She said "It teaches you about yourself, and makes you stronger." There's just something about them that catches the essence of rugged protection. It makes sense that they would have this view point in regards to this sacred cactus and others. Not only the experiences that they've had using it in an entheogenic context, but with the physical manifestation of its appearance we can also see it. The spikes, the fact that it can ration its own water, and survive under just about any conditions, and even grow roots while not in the ground, along with needing very little nutrients in the sad to thrive. They truly are remarkable survivors.
