( Pogostemon patchouli )
patchouli leaf
It has been used for everything from treating the common cold, to an antidote for venomous snake bites. In ancient Chinese culture, it was a prized remedy for headaches, nausea, and abdominal pain.

( Areca catechu )

Betel nuts are a natural stimulant drug used in southeast Asia. I predict it will become as popular as Kratom. It's active phytochemical is said to be arecoline.

Most of these varieties will do just fine when cultivated in a mixture of good soil, sand, and perlite. Using 30% of each works well. You can add slightly more sand than fertile soil though, because they don't like the dirt to be too much like typical plants do. The best technique for growing anything I find, is to just plant the seeds in the dry compost you have prepared, and leave them be. If you live in a southern region of the globe such as the southern United States, then you'll want to give all of your plants some shade. The idea is to allow your garden to become self sufficient. Remember, these cacti don't have the same watering needs as regular plants. They thrive in dessert regions and are hardy, tough, and self-sufficient.
