This is no ordinary selection of plants. These ethnobotanical specimens are of great interest to pharmocologist, ethnobotanist, scientist, alternative healers, spiritualist, shamans, and other cultures across the globe. Ethnobotanicals have been highly sought after by human beings sense the beginning. Below I will discuss these sacred plants in alphabetical order. Keep in mind this is only a small portion of ethnobotanical plants in the world.

Black Nightshade ( Solanum nigrum )

Be very careful if you plan to do anything with this entheogen. Black Nightshade is potentially very dangerous. It can also be a wonderful medicine. It has both a dark side and a light side. In homeopathy this is a highly prized species. Medicinal applications of this entheogen are done so by applying the Arndt-Schulz rule. This medical rule is as consistent as the law of gravity. It means that any poison in a dilute enough form has medicinal properties. Any medicine in a high enough and consistent enough dosage can have negative health effects. Basically the difference between medicine and poison is the dosage and duration of use. Nightshade is a relative of the Tomato plant and even Datura.

Blue Lotus

Click the title above to learn much more.

The ancient Egyptians were a big time fan of the Blue Lotus. It's earned the nickname "sacred lily of the nile". The plant has very tranquil properties that make it beneficial for meditation. It opens the third eye and brings calm and tranquil sedation to the user. Blue Lotus also has aphrodisiac properties meaning that it's excites senses of a sexual nature. There are several varieties of the Lotus species of different colors. Each color has it's own vibrational frequency. There have been studies behind the psychological effects of colors. In my opinion each color represents valuable spiritual lessons. They are a ladder to spiritual enlightenment.

Brugmansia arborea - Datura

Also known as: Tree Datura, Angels Trumpets, Maikoa

Even though this plant has the common nick name "Angels Trumpets", that's no reason to be deceived. They have also been refereed to as Devil's weed. It all depends on how the plant is used I suppose. If you are seeking a thrill or "legal high" I highly advise against it when it comes to Datura. It's potentially very dangerous and even lethal. It can induce extreme states of delirium, and even death. It does offer a few medicinal qualities if you know what you're doing. Unless you are a highly trained homeopathic doctor or another type of alternative healer, you do not want to mess with Datura.

Bushman's Tobacco - Camphor Bush - Tarchonanthus camphoratus

People are all about those E-Cig's today. I'd like to offer you another alternative. Bushman's Tobacco contains a constituent known as camphor. Camphor is very similar to menthol because of it's aroma and other mint-like qualities. This Tobacco is sort of like a menthol cigarette. It does not contain nicotine however. It has several medicinal qualities as well. Read more about Bushmans Tobacco here.

These entheogens have been used in religious ceremonies, shamanic practices, and alternative healing applications. They have been prized for centuries all around the world by people with many different spiritual beliefs. Entheogens are sacred plants to human beings. Many of them have been used in dream workings. Phytochemist have isolated and studied many constituents from them. What's cool about many of the entheogens listed on this website is that they are not as well heard of in the west. They are also backed by the scientific branch of chemistry known as phytochemistry. Also many of them are not as well known by alternative spiritual paths in the Western world today. I'm glad to help spread the word of these really cool plants.
