A Natural Source Of Caffeine

guarana

Caffeine is present in more plants than just Coffee. Guarana is one of many natural gifts from the cosmos that produces this commonly sought after chemical. It contains much more caffeine than most of its other botanical competitors. It also has a history of use as medicine with many different applications. I strive to bring different and original information to the world wide wibe so the intention behind this article is to do just that. So you know, there are a lot of other plants that contain caffeine.

Medicinal Properties

Anti-diarrhea(yikes!); Diuretic; Stimulant; Fatigue; Mild Depression, Headache, and Migraines; Vascular muscle relaxant; Appetite suppressant(Swerdlow, 2000, p. 374)

Guarana has even been used as an aphrodisiac , as its believed by herbalist to enhance sexual desire, to increase urine flow, and serve as an astringent. It may also be beneficial for the following ailments: diarrhea(yikes!), fever, heart problems, headache, joint pain, backache, and heat stress. It works by stimulating the human central nervous system, heart and muscles. The herb also contains theophylline and theobromine(also found in chocolate) which are similar to caffeine. Theobromine widens blood vessels.

The medicianal qualities that Guarana is believed to have, can not only be backed up by centuries worth of observations, but phytochemical analysis in laboratories have also found some quite interesting pharmacological potential as well. It's the phytochemicals that plants like it create that are what attributes to their medicinal applications. I let the science speak for itself, and cite academic journals written by professional reseachers in the field of phytochemistry. Unfortunately it seems to me and many other observers, that the west has fallen behind in our healthcare system. We need a healthcare system that's more like the Deutsche, where herbalism is practiced in main-stream medicine. We need to do away with force, and bring in choice.

A few of the phytochemicals that it produces are: xanthine alkaloids (besides caffeine), including stimulants such as theophylline, theobromine and oolyphenols. The two primary phenols found in guarana are catechin epicatechin. These are just a few. Each chemical constituent is found in other botanicals, and have been extensively researched in laboratory settings. Students and professionals a-like have identified many pharmacological properties and "abilities" that these complex natural compounds, alkaloids, and other constituents produce. They truly are remarkable. I feel that we are looking for medical breakthroughs through the act of engineering, and yet the break-throughs have already been engineered, and instead people choose to ban them and wage war on them. Let's promote health freedom in this world.

Other applications herbalist suggest Guarana for include: headaches and migraines, heart health, as a blood cleanser(surprising, similar properties to Echinacea etc), and to lower your body temperature ( fevers ). Typically a plant is commonly known for one or two useful benefits, but once you dig deeper you begin to see that they actually contain dozens if not hundreds of medicinal phytochemicals, each with their own multiple medicinal properties. In fact over the years I find things out by using these herbs, things that I've never read or heard elsewhere. It's pretty cool. I think it upsets the "health authorities" in the west as well. Americans, we need to speak up and maintain a free country.

It's no wonder people love this stuff so much, it's obviously good for us and that makes us feel good. For the skeptics though we are here to present the data. A study conducted on the effects of Chocolate and human health shows that it has positive effects on our cardiovascular system. The reason I mention this is because the two share some of the same phytochemicals! I also believe our cardiovascular health effects our happiness, because if we are ill in any way I believe our inner spark is dull as well. Excessive consumption of Caffeine probably isn't a good thing though. Like all other great natural substances, I think moderation keeps our experiences the best possible. Thanks for stopping by!
