Cultivating Kratom Indoors From Cuttings

Update: Kratom remains legal.

It's important that you don't put your live Kratom plants outside right away. I've never personally known anyone who's successfully cultivated it outdoors, except one. It seems to slowly acclimate to its environment and prefers the same conditions that it was born into. If your Mitragyna speciosa tree was cloned from an indoor mother, then it will prefer the indoors as well. Because of this, I suggest first determine which Kratom strain to grow. Keeping your near a window seal is fine, but you don't want it to get too much sun. Make sure the leaves are moist, and using a sprayer is recommended.

The leaves shouldn't get too dry and too over-heated. Keep a clear plastic bag or two taped together over the plant at all times. If the soil is a little too wet then you may want to make some holes in the bag. If it starts to look off, don't panick. I've put together a guide to help you combat yellow leaves on Kratom plants as to prevent further decay of your babies. Know that it requires very little water indoors and too much will cause problems. Kratom trees can go up to a month without water under a few compact fluorescent bulbs you can easily purchase at Amazon. Four bulbs are adequate to one plant. Taking care of one cutting isn't difficult and requires no more than previously mentioned in this paragraph. Caring for a greenhouse requires much more lighting.

Make sure the soil is completely dry obviously before watering. You can test the soil by sticking your pointer finger down into the dirt half way between the edge of your pot and the stalk of the Kratom tree. It shouldn't be moist enough for you to have no doubt that you detect moisture. If the tree is wilted and it's soil has been dry for a long time, obviously it's craving water. I've never heard any growers ever talk about this happening, even after the tree has been weeks without water. As long as it's covered, and in a tropical green house like environment, it tends to do just fine.

You can top your live kratom plants and actually make them bush out. This increases the yield of the overall plant. At the same time, it allows you to reproduce, or "clone" the tree, and help it to spread. If you cut a branch off near the stalk and plant it, it will grow. Take a razor blade after rinsing the cutting off under some water, and gently scrape away some of the outer skin on the stalk. Now place it in some adequately watered soil that has good aeration(add 20% perlite) and place under lighting. Give clones to your friends and family and help spread this needed tree.
