Common names include Lobelia, Asthma Weed, Indian Tobacco, Pukeweed, and Vomitwort. This item is not to be confused with Indian Warrior. Main active component: Lobeline. Maybe it was born with it, or maybe it's lobeline. 🤣

Lobelia, or Indian Tobacco, is suggested by herbalist to help clear mucus from the respiratory tract, including the throat, lungs, and bronchial tubes. It's similar to another plant known as Mullein because of what it's used for. The main active component in both species is called Mucilage, and it's a phytochemical. It sounds a lot like the over the counter drug "Mucinex", and the two are used for the same ailments. This is an observation of mine. On that note, I would like to quote Psalms 91:3 and Psalms 91:1 in the NASB, or as I like to call it, "Psalms 911". "He who dwells in the shelter of the most High God, will abide in the shadow of the Almighty." and Psalms 91:3 "For it is HE who delivers you from the snare of the trapper, and from the deadly pestilence." HE, and who created these plants? HE DID!

Lobelia has been used during religious ceremonies by Native Americans. From my experiences with it I would say that its "psychoactive" effects are on par with that of Tobacco, or Baybean. It's a great addition to infusions for respiratory complaints, and infusions for many other purposes. It has been known to have been smoked by different cultures including the Natives obviously, hints the name Indian Tobacco. Both Lobelia and Mullein can be used this way and they claimed the smoke was actually soothing on the lungs, to a certain extent. Much better than a lot of sketchy things in fact..

In terms of the plants effects, reports state experiences of focus, and intense alertness. This also sounds on part with Nicotine. I imagine in a paralelle universe somewhere people smoke this stuff instead(half joking). The Indians smoked a whole lot of plants in fact. That's not just a hint towards Cannabis use. Lobelia is a plant, and it's not like "spice", "k2", or "bathsalts". It and every other botanical listed on this website produces phytochemicals. Phytochemistry is the study of these pharmacologically active components. You've heard of pharmaceutical sales reps, well i'm an herbal representative. Because of this, I'm here to tell you that the information provided by the researchers teaches us a lot about the nature of medicine, yet no one seems to be paying attention to it.

Indian Tobacco when combined with Baybean and Mullein leaf makes a great alternative to Tobacco in my opinion. The smell alone is enjoyable, even if you think you're not a fan of smells. In fact there is a lot of science behind scents and how they effect us on a subconscious and unconscious level. This in and of itself is further potential that aromatic plants such as Lobelia posess. Pure menthol fan you could always add some of that, it's available on the market. Also mint is great for this mixtures.

Some argue that a plant with such subtle effects that is not on par with a psychoactive or psychedelic, is not an ethnobotanical. I consider anything that aids in the bodies natural healing process, or assist one into feeling better, as an ethnobotanical, aka a culturally appreciated plant. Some would argue that this is an abomination, that only Jesus can heal, and yet those same people take chemicals made by drug companies. Jesus does heal, but we require food(plants, or meat that eats plants), do we not?

Revelation 22:2 "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit ever month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."
