The scientific name of this plant is Combretum quadrangulare. This species is a member of the Combretaceae family. The people of Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar are fortunate to have such a valuable plant growing wild across their indigenous land. The entheogen produces many sacred phytochemical substances that have both medicinal, and psychoactive properties. In many parts of the world Sakae naa is believed to cure sexual diseases and kill parasitic worms in the human body. Plants, or substances known for expelling parasitic worms (helminths) from the body are known as Anthelmintics or antihelminthics.
The plant is commonly used as a Kratom substitute in Thailand because it's been banned there. I find that rediculous by the way, seeing as how it's an herb that brings people relief and is harmless. Aside from its medicinal and psychoactive use, the Combretum tree is also believed to posess powers of white magic in southeastern Asia. Many claim it to be an effective muscle relaxor. It's different, but very enjoyable and effective in my opinion.
In southeastern Asia, Sakae is believed to hold powers of White Magic. This region of the world is well known for its history of Ayurvedic medicine, Vedic Astrology, and magical practices. White magic in particular is used in a selfless fashion for the greater good of all. Black magic on the other hand, is the opposite. The origin of white magic is believed to originate from adaptations of paleolithic religions and other early religions in general. This includes the polytheistic traditions of the ancient Egyptians, and even later monotheistic ideas of Judaism and even early Christianity.
You may think that all of these beliefs are nothing more than folk lore, yet there are chemicals produced by the plant that are of great pharmacological significance. To really understand the advanced terminology behind these compounds, you would have to understand a bit of chemistry or phytochemistry. Sakae naa naturally produces a compound known as "Combretol". Combretol is an O-methylated flavonol that's found in C. quadrangulare. Another chemical present in the plant is known a gallic acid derivative scientifically referred to as 1-O-galloyl-6-O-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxy)benzoyl-beta-D-glucose. Chemicals such as these are the source of plants medicinal and psychoactive powers.
Specifically, each individual part of the Combretum tree has a different history of use. The seeds posess anthelmintic properties for roundworm and threadworm. The root is used for the treatment of venereal diseases and as an anthelminitic. The leaves or foliage is used to relieve muscular pain. This is likely due to the different chemicals found in specific parts of the tree.
I've decided to first test this plant by consuming it the same way that I do with Mitragyna speciosa. Different plants seem to be more effective when consumed in a specific fashion. For example, Kratom works when eaten, capsules, or tinctured. So with this in mind I'm going to capsule the powdered material. A typical M. speciosa dosage from my experience is anywhere from 1-4 grams and never any more. Six "00" sized capsules will hold 4 grams of kratom. I'm going to start with 4 grams, or 6 capsules.
Herbs, Supplements, Roots, Leaves, Flowers!
Preparation method: 6 Capsules - Weight: 3 Grams w/ capsules. Note: I was able to fill 6 capsules to weigh in at 3.7 grams with more effort.
Current state of being: 12:49 pm In a descent mood, feeling well, slightly hungry.
Current environment: Chilling in my bed room, jamming to some Bob Marley. I'm Very comfortable, and at peace.
First noted effects: 1:03 pm I'm beginning to feel extra relaxed, more so than usual.
1:08 pm I'm starting to feel very pleasant. The feeling is not like being "blown away" by a substance. It's a very subtle relaxation that seems to be slowly building up inside my body. I feel like it's definately doing some healthy work inside of me.
1:13 pm A sudden rush of what feels like a cooling sensation just came over my lower body and is slowly filling my entire being. My muscles feel very relaxed. So far the effects remind me of Kava Kava. I find the leaf to be a calming muscle relaxant. Unlike Kratom, this alternative has not given me an abundance of energy. I feel more like lying down, or sitting in a really soft comfortable chair.
1:27 pm I think the effects have reached a peak, although i'm not sure yet. I am interested in trying a tincture of this one next to see if the effects are more pronounced, and they should be. Tinctures are one of the best methods for producing alternative medicine. The last method of consumption that I will try is a classic tea. Not everything works in the form of a tea.
The date this article was written was 4/23/14. I will make a tincture using the leaf and add to this experience report in the near future. Also, I am interested in trying some sort of edibles. I'm confident that a higher dosage, or a potent tincture can provide stronger effects. Tinctures are made by soaking herbal material in high grade alcohol for an extended period of time. All together, I give it a thumbs up.
Updated Comment: I don't believe in the use of capsules anymore. I think it's un-natural. Now I go with tinctures, tea's, and decoctions all the way.
The big bankers are interfering with Bouncing Bear's business and others by cutting them off from credit card processing. Please note, you can pay with a cash in the mail, money order, E-check, or any other method. I'm working on having vendors up who can accept credit cards but, eventually they get cut off. I'm begging the public to stop using credit cards because they are convenient. This is literally putting businesses out on the street.
