Simple Techniques To Grow Anything Better And Easier
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above nor the earth beneath. Thou shalt not bow down thyselves to them, nor serve them. For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Growing plants is often blown way out of proportion and made more complicated than it really is. This article focuses on simplifying the process. I'm focusing strictly on outdoor growing here. The first thing you should know is store bought soil isn't' always what it's cracked up to be. It's often problematic, and can require additives and PH adjustments over time. The avoid complications down the road which most of the time lead to failure, it's best to get your soil right from the beginning.
Soil, location, patience, and the growers know how are what leads to a successful harvest. If these three elements do not come together the results are a waste of time, money, and energy. If you're living in southern regions of the United States or similar areas around the world, something very important to remember is that MOST plants will require SOME shade, regardless of whether or not the seed pack says full sun or not. There are exceptions to this rule, but they are rare. If you live further up north, you may not need to apply this rule of thumb.
It's best to find your compost in nature. If you can find an area where woods meet the end of an asphalt road, the best compost can be found there. It should be black, fluffy, and fully decomposed ( nothing un-rotted ). It's important not to add anything to it prior to use, except around 24-35% perlite. Don't panic, perlite is organic. The soil should retain some moisture, while also having having excellent drainage. This is where the perlite comes in. It allows the roots to get air, while not holding excess moisture.
The next trick may seem a little unusual, but I promise it works great and that you will be thoroughly impressed. Find a location where your plants get full sun once a day for a short time. Under a tree, in or around some bushes, or something like that, makes the best grow spots. When you're ready to start, plant your seeds almost but not quite as deep as indicated on the seed pack. Do NOT water the soil before or after this step . This trick works every time. I promise if you test this method you will see what I'm talking about.
When the time is right, nature will germinate your seeds. If you water the soil, it will fail most of the time. If your location is good, you may never have to water your garden, or perhaps very rarely. Nature sustains itself without needing human intervention, and a perfect garden should be no different. Over-watering is the number one killer of crops around the world. It can also stunt their growth, making harvest time come later than sooner, and actually lower the yield of your harvest in the end. So just let nature take its own course and you will be very happy with the results.
Always use heirloom seeds instead of GMO's. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms, and they are often confused with hybrids. Hybrids are just plants which originate from different regions of the world. They are allowed to pollinate each other, thus resulting in a hybrid. GMO's are made in a laboratory in a mad scientist type manner. They are not the same, not natural, and they are illegal in many countries due to the health hazards that they pose the public. The banner below links to a heirloom company that believes in preserving original plant genetics in order to protect the world from the evils of genetically engineered foods.
