Here is yet another ancient believed Oneirogen used by wise cultures and individuals around the world. It's of African origin and is just now becoming popular today in the western world. It's called Synaptolepsis Kirkii, or Uvuma-omhlope. Yes, these names are very hard to pronounce. Feel free to give this species your own nick-name. Uvuma-omhlope is very rarely sold in the typical shops you would find these sorts of botanicals in.

The roots are used, much like that of Xhosa Dream Herb, and other oneirogens. They are either chewed, made into a decoction ( boiled ), or they could be soaked in everclear for up to four weeks in order to create a tincture. Personally, I like to make infused tinctures with multiple oneirogenic plants. Believe me, there are some pretty cool and powerful combinations that you can make with roots and leaves given you have the experience and research under your belt.

Scientific research has been conducted on its medicinal potential, and the findings have been quite impressive. It would take me a month to share all of it with you. The most notable potential medical qualities produced by a couple of its constituents may be Neurotrophic and antileukemic in their properties. Aside from the phytochemical research into its pharmacological potential, it has a history of lore surrounding it as well. I would encourage all of you to make use of Google's scholarly search engine via scholar.google.com There, you can find academic journals written by highly educated and brilliant researchers from around the globe!

When it comes to folk-lore, It's said to induce pseudo-clairvoyance, trance like states, and neurological clarity during dream states. These beliefs originate from cultures in Africa. They thought that it would induce this state of "prophetic dreaming", so to speak. Try having a specific question in mind after the ingestion, and then going to sleep. Perhaps it's possible that this stimulates your unconscious mind, who knows. Your unconscious mind could possibly calculate answers to your concerns I think. Sometimes people read this stuff and make assumptions about I, the author. Ethnobotany though, is the study of the cultural use of plants. This one in particular, has a lot of different ways in which it was used, from medicine, to a dream aid, to having a history of use in a religious context.

How on earth could a plant induce these states? Well, plants too are organic biological creatures. They produce and contain chemicals just as the human body does. It's believed that these compounds can interact with our own chemistry, in a symbiotic and evolutionary fashion. In the next paragraph I will discuss the scientific understanding of this herb. I hope to introduce rare ethnobotaniacls such as Synaptolepsis kirkii to enough people that it encourages more phytochemist and other researchers to study them and share their findings with the world.

Phytochemicals are produced by plants. They are exquisitely designed chemicals which are created in accordance to the genetic blueprint programmed into the plants DNA by the process of evolution. At least five known daphnane-type diterpene orthoesters have been isolated and researched from this herb. Neurotrophic and anti-leukaemia properties were produced by these compounds in vitro. It also contains Kirkinine, a powerful nootropic. You see, plants are essentially biological hardware, which are executing extremely lengthy and intricate sets of instructions, also known as "code" or "software". This is my perception on the matter anyway. They are designed to accomplish such asstonishing feats in my belief.
